Former B&Q manager convicted of theft

A former assistant manager at the Penryn B&Q store in Cornwall has been found guilty of stealing hundreds of pounds from the retail chain.
Nicholas Mead, 37, was convicted of two counts of theft totalling £543 after an eight-day trial at Truro Crown court, and was sentenced to 30 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.
He was also cleared of four counts of fraudulently making cash refunds totalling £59,796.
After the allegations were made in June 2007, Mr Mead was suspended from his position and was later arrested on November 14, 2007.
He was also ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work and to pay B&Q £543 in compensation by Judge Christopher Elwen.
