Dunelm to close Hinckley store

Published: 8 November 2017 - Sue Deane

Dunelm is closing its store in Hinckley, Leicestershire in January 2018 over concerns the site is too small.

A spokesman for Dunelm said: “We continually review our store estate to ensure that we have the right size stores in the best locations, to provide the strongest possible offer to our customers. As a result, we have decided not to renew the lease on our high street store in Hinckley, which is one of a small handful of Dunelm high street stores.

"We are currently working with colleagues in the store and they are all being offered positions in nearby Dunelm locations.

“We would encourage customers to visit our nearby Nuneaton store which is one of 165 out of town superstores where we are able to showcase the fuller breadth and depth of the Dunelm product range.”

Speaking on behalf of members of the Hinckley and District Chamber of Trade, president Rosemary Wright said: “Dunelm has recently developed out of town superstores with their ease of convenient parking and this, in the view of the Chamber, may be a contributing reason for their decision to close the Castle Street store with its parking problems. This has placed an even greater squeeze on the available car parking spaces left for Castle Street shoppers.”
