Dobbies to miss sales targets as poor weather hits profits

Published: 22 August 2007
Dobbies Garden Centres has said the sustained poor weather over the key summer months will mean internal sales targets are unlikely to be met.
Whilst like-for-like sales year to date remain positive at +0.5% (this compares with +10.9% like-for-like as at the half year end at the end of April) sales of garden furniture, plants and core gardening products have been poor.

Reports from analysts put the sales of some categories such as irrigation equipment down 20%.

Pre-tax profits for the year ending October 31, 2007 will fall below market expectations, which currently stand at circa £6.2m.
