£8m acquisition extends reach, says James Barnes.
Dobbies Garden Centres has bought the Sandyholm Garden Centre, in Lanarkshire, for £8m.

It said the acquisition includes the freehold garden centre of about 36,000 sq ft of retail space, situated on a nine acre site.

Sandyholm reported sales of £5.8m for the year ending December 2007 and net profit before tax of £1.1m.

Dobbies' chief executive, James Barnes, said: "We are very pleased to be acquiring a well known and well respected garden centre that extends the reach of Dobbies in our Scottish heartland."
