Carpetright, one of europe's biggest carpet and floor coverings retailers, announced the deal this week.

The group, who first half sales show a drop of 5.9% when they were announced in October, has 689 stores nationwide.

Sleepright operates out of 93 of Carpetrights outlets, but was until this sale a separate company.

The firm's chief executive, Lord Harris of Peckham, said: "We see significant opportunities to develop the business, which is complementary to Carpetright, and there are important synergies for us to exploit and deliver attractive returns to our shareholders".
