Managing director Simon Lane claimed the deal as a first in the industry where 'such an affordable...wide choice of products,' is available to the general public.

"An average home can be fully automated for as little as £500 providing the ultimate in convenience and energy saving advances. It is definitely the future," he said.

The contract will see 'Home Easy' products in all 330 of B&Q's warehouses and stores from September 17, 2007.

"It is Byron Group's biggest order to date and naturally we are thrilled," the md of the Worcestershire based family business added.

Byron was established more than 100 years ago specialising in the manufacture of doorchimes for which it has been B&Q's sole supplier for the past five years.
