Wesfarmers-owned DIY chain Bunnings has, today, officially opened new Warehouses in High Wycombe, Newmarket, Walthamstow and Hanworth.

Following DIY Week’s report last week that the Bunnings Warehouse in Hanworth was open and trading, the company held an official opening for the 57,000sq ft former Homebase store on Twickenham Road today, as well as announcing the opening of three further outlets on the same day.

The other news stores to host an official opening today are the former Homebase on Fulbourne Road in Wandsworth, which boasts a footprint of more than 74,000sq ft, another former Homebase on Knaves Beech Business Centre in High Wycombe, occupying almost 50,000sq ft and a Homebase branch on Oaks Drive in Newmarket, which is just over 37,000sq ft.

All four of the stores, regardless of size, will carry more than 30,000 branded home improvement and garden products and offer key cutting, paint mixing and timber cutting services, as well as in-store DIY workshops. Like the Bunnings pilot stores that have opened before, they also all feature a garden centre.

The latest round of openings takes the number of Bunnings Warehouses now trading in the UK to 19. Other openings set for later this year include Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, Penge in south-east London, and Frome in Somerset. A small-format store, like the Bunnings in Bicester, will also open in Herne Bay this year.

Australian home improvement giant, Bunnings bought Homebase from Home Retail Group for £340million in February 2016 and plans to invest £500million in transforming the Homebase store network and building a new Bunnings Warehouse business in the UK and Ireland over the next five years.
