Bullard was a decorator at his father's decorating firm for three years before becoming a professional footballer at Gravesend & Northfleet. He then moved on to play for clubs including Hull City, Fulham & Ipswich Town.

Decorating firms now have the chance to sign Bullard on a one-day loan deal by tweeting the job that they would give him and reasons why their firm would be the right move. They can enter via Twitter, using #SignJimmy or via www.armsteadtrade.co.uk.

Said Bullard: "I'm looking forward to picking up a paint brush again and getting involved in a decorating firm. I've still got the perfect finish when it comes to doing a quality painting job and hopefully whichever team I join, they'll be game for a kickabout during our tea breaks."

Armstead Trade is AkzoNobel's UK trade paint brand.
