Hillier Nurseries & Garden Centres has today announced that managing director Andrew McIndoe is to leave the company for pastures new.
Mr McIndoe has been a major part of the Hillier story for the past 37 years, serving as Hillier garden centre director before assuming the role of Hillier managing director seven years ago.

It has been revealed that he will leave the company today (Friday October, 23)

During his time at Hillier, Mr McIndoe created 25 Gold-Medal winning RHS Chelsea exhibits, led Hillier Gardening Club tours around Britain and Europe, gave frequent gardening talks to gardening groups and industry bodies, wrote many of the best-selling Hillier Gardener's Guides and was the principal media spokesperson for Hillier.

Hillier Nurseries and Garden Centres chairman Robert Hillier commented: "Andy has played a tremendous role in Hillier's success. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Andy for his outstanding contribution over the past three decades."

Mr McIndoe said: "It has been a great honour and a pleasure to be a part of the Hillier story for so long and to have worked so closely with such an enthusiastic, knowledgeable team. I am excited to now be able to focus on what I am most passionate about, which is communicating, educating, designing and enthusing about the wonderful world of plants and gardening."

There have been some other notable departures at Hillier in recent months, including buyers Philippa Bensley and Graham Tarrant.

The announcement also follows news that Squire's managing director Dennis Espley will retire next April.
