Staff at William Sinclair recently presented a cheque for £3,559.90 to the Greenfingers charity, which is dedicated to creating gardens at children's hospices across the country.
£3,500 boost for Greenfingers
The garden product supplier was able to raise the funds for Greenfingers by donating two pence from every 20litre bag of J. Arthur Bower's Top Soil sold from June to December last year.

William Sinclair's marketing manager Fiona Carrington said: "We are thrilled to have raised more than £3,500 for Greenfingers during 2011 through our Top Soil sales.

"We'd like to thank our retail partners, who have stocked the product and therefore supported the cause and also brought the charity to the attention of thousands of gardeners in the country.

"We have chosen to support Greenfingers for the previous few years, the work that it does at children's hospices is fantastic and we hope to continue to raise funds for its invaluable work."

The company, which has headquarters in Lincoln, has been supplying garden fertilisers, composts and lawn care products to the horticultural industry since 1850.

Greenfingers' charity manager Sarah Lioveri said: "I would like to thank William Sinclair for its ongoing and invaluable support.

"The money raised will make a significant contribution to our work creating magical gardens at children's hospices across the UK. The gardens are designed to help the children and their families and friends during a very emotional and difficult time."

Greenfingers launched in November 1998 thanks to a group of volunteers drawn from all sectors of the gardening industry. Since then growers, plant breeders, retailers, manufacturers and a host of gardening journalists and celebrities have all contributed materials, time and expertise to create 36 gardens at children's hospices throughout the UK.
