What More UK: Shortlisted for two categories in the Made in the North West Awards

Published: 14 June 2021 - James Mead

What More is the UK housewares market and brand leader. The progressive manufacturing company has been shortlisted for two separate categories, the Export Award, and the coveted Manufacturer of the Year (over £25 million category).

The Manufacturer of the Year award is perhaps the most hotly contested award. What More's shortlisting in this area is a significant vote of confidence for the organisation. The company's policy of continuous investment in its staff, its facilities, and sustainability has led them to commercial success and leadership in social responsibility.

What More has simultaneously managed to grow its profits year on year, while also supporting the local community through school engagement, apprenticeship schemes, beach clean-up, and sponsorship of local sports teams.

The second category is the export award. This prize is for manufacturing companies with outstanding international presence, export growth, and exports as a proportion of sales.

What More's strategy to export its products, proudly bearing a "Made in Britain" logo, has proven a very wise decision. British made products have a great reputation overseas and What More sells its products to 75 countries around the world. During the covid pandemic What More managed to add a further two countries to its already impressive list of export destinations.

"Made in Britain means made of top quality. There's a real demand for British made products overseas and we've done our best to capitalise on that positivity" explains company Director Tony Grimshaw OBE.

The Made in the North West awards, now in their ninth year, are organised by Insider Media Limited. They have come to be recognised as one of the premier accolades for manufacturing companies in the North West, the traditional heartland of Great British manufacturing.

The winners will be revealed at a special black tie dinner held at the Lowry Hotel on 28 July.

What More UK is the manufacturer behind the popular housewares brand Wham. Their products are available in all the major UK supermarkets, DIY stores and a further 1600 independent retailers up and down the country.

The firm produces housewares of all kinds, from around the sink items to laundry, bakeware and cookware, home storage and gardenware.
