Wyevale opens up the barn doors

Published: 8 October 2007
Wyevale has bought its third garden centre in a matter of weeks with the acquisition of Old Barn Nurseries in Horsham, Surrey.
The family-run centre was sold as owner, Graham Spears, is retiring.

Accounts for the year to January 2007 saw Old Barn generating turnover of £4.6m.

Old Barn Nurseries offers a variety of indoor, outdoor and unusual plants plus a selection of gifts.

Specimen plants include beautiful Japanese acers and 30' high banana plants.

An 18th century barn has been converted to a licensed restaurant with a Pantry Shop.

This acquisition takes Wyevale's total to 121 centres. In the last month it has bought Sanders Garden World in Somerset, and Peter Barratt's in the North East.
