Published: 10 January 2011
Westland Horticulture has announced that it has ceased production of Unwins bulbs, transferring all trade and assets to Taylors Bulbs. Westland retains all rights to the Unwins name and brand.
Westland disposes of bulb business
The agreement with Taylors was reached to allow Westland to concentrate on developing other categories. Any financial consideration paid for the business has not been disclosed.

Commenting on the move Westland md Edward Conroy said: "This decision has been made in order for Westland to significantly increase its investment and focus in further developing our Unwins seed brand and birdcare, lawncare, growing media, controls and fertilisers amongst others.

"In order to maintain the extremely high standards of Westland, the focus on Unwins products will concentrate on seed, seed potatoes, onions and garlic."

Taylors Bulbs director Adam Taylor said: "We are delighted to be able to take on the Unwins flower bulb business for Westland. We look forward to building strong relationships with new customers as a result of this acquisition."

All enquiries regarding the bulb business, and all new orders, should now be directed to Taylors Bulbs.
