Walsall Wheelbarrow Company invests in manufacturing facilities

Published: 8 April 2015
UK manufacturer of wheelbarrows, The Walsall Wheelbarrow Company Ltd, has invested more than £1.2 million in manufacturing facilities at its site in the midlands.
The investment develops the capabilities, quality control and cost-efficiency of the production site in Wolverhampton in order to enable increasingly high product specifications, as the company expands. The move follows additional branded product listings in major DIY multiples, as well as John Lewis and Amazon and a vigorous new product development programme targeting the merchant sector and professional users, plus specialist markets like equine.

New facilities introduced as part of the investment include robotic welding technology, an expansion of drop nose frame manufacture, a new press pan line, automated feed bolt assembly facilities and the delivery of a new shrink wrap tunnel.

The Walsall Wheelbarrow Company sales director Simon Thacker said of the latest developments: "We have always been a proactive company leveraging the excellent quality reputation of our brand and our unique British credentials to drive sales. Strong performance has meant that investment for expansion is the right thing to do. We are very confident that this will bring even greater returns and this is good news for the company, our customers and for British manufacture as a whole."
