Travis Perkins raises £55,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through cement mixer hire

Published: 7 September 2022 - James Mead

Travis Perkins which is part of Travis Perkins plc and is the UK’s largest distributor of materials to the construction sector, raised £55,000 through the hire of its cement mixers over the last 12 months.

The initiative is part of Travis Perkins’ wider support for Macmillan Cancer Support. Since the launch of their partnership back in 2015 Travis Perkins and Benchmarx have raised over £4 million for Macmillan.

For every cement mixer that was hired through the company, Travis Perkins donated 50p to Macmillan Cancer Support through its Mix It Match It campaign. It asks customers to match the donation through a simple QR code or a text message to 70550, with a minimum 50p donation.

Following its success last year, Travis Perkins is continuing the innovative fundraising scheme this year.

Travis Perkins Hire’s Managing Director, Daniel Lowans says: “The generosity of our customers is remarkable and this fundraising campaign really matters to us and them. The pandemic had a devastating impact on Macmillan Cancer Support’s efforts at a time when people living with cancer need our support more than ever. Mix It Match It will help support the charity in its efforts to be there for everyone living with or affected by cancer.”

Sharon Cottam, Partnership Manager for Travis Perkins at Macmillan Cancer Support added:  “This brilliant and unique fundraiser for Macmillan really has helped to make a huge difference to support people living with cancer and their families.  We would like to thank all the colleagues and customers for supporting this campaign over the past 12 months and are delighted that the campaign continues to raise much needed funds.  Thank you.”

Travis Perkins will also be supporting Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ which is held on the 30th September and colleagues from the builders merchants will be undertaking a variety of fundraising initiatives.
