Topps Tiles continues steady performance

Published: 23 May 2007
Topps Tiles reported a 4.4% jump in like-for-like sales and a slight drop in half year pre-tax profit.
The flooring retailer says profit before tax fell from £20.3m the year before to £18.7m in the six months ended March 31, 2007 while sales for the period rose 14.9% to £101.8m.

Operating profit for the period rose 8.8% to £21.3m.

Topps Tiles says it is on target to open 30 new UK stores this financial period and it is ahead of target to open five new stores in Holland.

The group opened 15 new UK stores and four new Dutch stores in the last six months.

Chief executive Nick Ounstead says he is confident of continued progress in the second half of 2007.
