The tile industry digs deep into its pockets

Published: 21 April 2008
The charity collection at the TTA Awards dinner has raised £13,961.45 for the charity Children Today.
This amount exceeds last year's by more than £3,000 and is made up from cash on the night and pledges.

Last year's collection helped the charity to improve the lives of several children including Samuel, from Blandford, Dorset, is aged 4 and suffers from Cerebral Palsy and Spastic Quadriplegia.

With the money raised at last year's TTA Awards, Children Today were able to purchase a new trike for Samuel.

Tara, of Newry, Co. Down, is aged 7 and suffers from Downs Syndrome and has a Ventricular Septal Defect (Hole in the Heart).

With TTA money Children Today gave her a new trike.

Paul, of St. Austell, Plymouth, is aged 19 and suffers with Hypotonia, valgoid feet and has learning disabilities. TTA money bought him a new wheelchair.

Darryll, of Corfe Mullen in Dorset, is aged 6 and suffers from Downs Syndrome, Sleep apnoea and Trisomy 21. He also got a new trike as a direct result of the TTA collection.

Shauna, of County Fermanagh, is aged 12 and suffers from Neuronal Migrational disorder (Neurological abnormalities).
With the money raised last year at the TTA Awards, Children Today were able to purchase an Electric Scooter for Shauna.

Children Today was founded in 1994 to help disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 enjoy a better quality of life by providing them with the specialised equipment they need.

"We believe the provision of equipment and aids is vital in helping children and young people overcome their disabilities and enable them to lead full and active lives with their families and friends".

The Tile Association would like to thank those individuals and companies who gave money on Saturday night. If you would like to donate to Children Today visit their website at www.children-today.org.uk.
