Despite missing its original Christmas 2014 deadline, The Range opened its 100th store in Peverell on Friday morning.
The Range reaches target and opens 100th store
The landmark outlet was branded with a large 100th store logo, which incorporated scenes of Plymouth on tiles decorated by the children of Mayflower Community Academy primary school.

The ribbon was cut at 9am by The Range founder and owner Chris Dawson, along with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, Councillor Michael Fox and Mrs Rosemary Fox. They were also joined by three budding entrepreneurs from Plymouth University who entered a Dragons Den style competition with Mr Dawson the previous week.

The Range, which started in Plymouth over 25 years ago, now stretches all over the UK with stores in England, Wales and Scotland. Plans have been revealed that the retail super chain will be opening around 35 new stores in 2015.

The new store has created over 80 jobs; from warehouse staff and sales assistants to store and office managers.

Mr Dawson commented: "It is a very proud moment for me to be opening my 100th store - and to be able to do it where it all started makes it even more special. The company has grown from just one store all those years ago and I couldn't be prouder of this achievement. It has taken a lot of hard work to get here and I want to thank all of the staff that have worked hard to make this happen. I hope that."

Does anyone know if this store plans to branch out anymore in Northern Ireland. Ballymena perhaps?

I think caps lock is the least of her problems.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people post total nonsense on DIY Week. If you have a genuine product complaint, what would be your first port of call? Forget Trading Standards. Why, obviously it would be to post an incoherent message on an unrelated 5 month old article on a DIY website!

Similarly, if a DIY store is opening up in your town and you fancy a job there, why go through the proper application process and hassle of writing a pesky CV? Simply post your name and contact details on an unrelated DIY Week article and surely a job will magically be gifted to you!

Or are these posts just bored DIY Week staff on a wind-up? (If so, well played!!)

Using only upper case makes your post very hard to read. It's not considered good form.
