Security brand Sterling has pledged its support to recognising talent in the DIY and garden industry by sponsoring categories for two major industry awards over the coming year.
In November Sterling will sponsor the brand new Retail Communicator of the Year category at the DIY Week Awards, paying tribute to retailers who go the extra mile to communicate with customers.

Sterling's Rex Atkins said of the newly-launched award: "Connecting with consumers, whether it is online, in store, in print or in person, makes all the difference to sales. Sterling knows that shoppers respond positively to advice on what products to use in which situation, especially in the security category. A new award that specifically recognises retailers who excel in communicating with customers is therefore very welcome and Sterling Locks is delighted to support it."

The security supplier will also show its support at the British Independent Retailers Association (BIRA) Awards by sponsoring the Young Hardware Retailer of the Year Award category. The award will be presented at the start of next year and seeks to recognise budding young retail employees under the age of 35 who are making a real difference in retail businesses across the UK.

Mr Atkins commented on the BIRA accolade: "This important award is designed to focus on the retailers of the future who are already making an impact today. Sterling Locks believes in encouraging and supporting young entrepreneurs and rewarding their initiative right from the start of their careers."
