Squire's signs new waste management contract

Published: 19 September 2013
Squire's Garden Centres has appointed Specialist Waste Recycling (SWR) to manage all its waste across its 14 sites in the south of England.
Squire's signs new waste management contract
SWR will now work with Squire's alongside its other contracts with garden centre groups, including Dobbies, Klondyke and Notcutts. Its ability to manage the multiple and varied waste streams seen at garden centres under a single contract was influential in Squire's decision to select the company for their contract.

It is said that SWR aims to more than double the current recycling levels across all centres through increased onsite segregation.

Family-owned Squire's has centres in north and west London, Surrey, Berkshire and Sussex. 13 of them have an onsite coffee shop or restaurant.

Jeannette Coltman, Squire's health and safety and facilities manager, said: "As a member of the Garden Centre Association, Squire's has been aware of SWR's successful work with a number of our fellow members.

"This has given us peace of mind that SWR are the right people to manage our waste in the most sustainable and cost effective way. Environmental best practice is extremely important to us and it is important that we can demonstrate our green credentials to our customers, staff and other stakeholders."
