The charity, which creates gardens in children's hospices, is now appeal to the garden industry for donations of surplus returned, ex-demo and end of line gardening stock for the auction. Solus Garden & Leisure Ltd has agreed to transport the products free of charge from companies nationwide to Bedford, where W&H Peacock Auctioneers and Valuers will carry out the auction.

Greenfingers director of marketing and fundraising Deborah Skillcorn said: "Turn old into gold is the perfect chance for companies to clear out their unwanted stock and also raise money for charity in the process. It is a win-win situation for everyone."

Solus md Nick Davies added: "We are delighted we could help Greenfingers with its new fundraiser for 2012. It is a great idea and we hope it raises lots of money for the charity."

The charity is appealing for anything garden-related, including barbecues, chainsaws, compost, greenhouses, hand tools, hedge trimmers and strimmers, patio furniture, plants, timber and water features.

Greenfingers' target fundraising amount from the initiative is £15,000. Any companies wishing to donate can email the charity at info@greenfingerscharity.co.uk.
