Rainy Day Trust parachute jump a success

Published: 26 September 2011
Sponsorship continues to roll in after DIY Week ad manager Rachael Lyon and former DIY Week editor Will Parsons took to the skies yesterday for the Rainy Day Trust parachute jump.
Rainy Day Trust parachute jump a success
The pair, who have raised more than £2,000 so far, joined 16 other volunteers from the DIY, home and garden industry take part in a tandem parachute jump in aid of the Rainy Day Trust.

The jump, from a height of 13,500 ft, included a 45-second, 120mph freefall before the parachute is deployed.

Despite admitting she had been extremely nervous in the week leading up to the jump, Mrs Lyon loved the experience on the day. "It was amazing!" she exclaimed. "One of the best experiences I've had in my life! I would definitely do it again - for the Rainy Day Trust or just for fun."

Sponsorship money is still pouring in after the feat on Sunday, September 25 and Mrs Lyon thanked everybody for their support and kind donations.

Unfortunately due to poor weather conditions, only eight members of the team were able to jump on Sunday. The remaining 10 will take to the skies at dates over the next fortnight.

Each member of the team has undertaken to raise £1,000 - but they need your help to get there! It's not too late to make a pledge. To show your support to any member of the team, email us at parachute@fav-house.com. Alternatively visit Rachael and Will's sponsorship page at www.justgiving.com/RDTParachute
