Most at risk of forced entry by lock snapping are multipoint locks fitted with a euro profile cylinder, which are currently found on PVC and composite doors in millions of homes across the UK.  
To help prevent break-ins, merchants and retailers can provide a selection of affordable, easy to fit solutions to concerned homeowners; including anti-snap cylinders, replacement multipoint locks and high security door furniture.
If homeowners want to upgrade their cylinder Yale recommends investing in one that is specifically designed to prevent attack, ideally meeting the TS007 standard. TS007 is a security standard for replacement lock cylinders and protective door furniture, which offers comparable levels of cylinder security to those already found in complete door assemblies rated to PAS 24 and complete lock assemblies rated to BS and PAS 3621/8621/10621 and DHF TS 621.
TS007 was introduced in response to the growing threat of burglary as criminals' methods of breaking in to homes become more sophisticated. The standard uses a three star system in which the cylinder, or a combination of the cylinder and security furniture, must have an accumulative three stars to meet the minimum security requirements.  
The star rating of any given product will be indicated above the Kitemark on the packaging, and it is up to the person fitting the furniture to ensure they have the correct combination of hardware to accumulate the three stars and comply with the standard.
The Yale AS Platinum Series Euro Profile cylinder has been independently tested by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and awarded the British Kitemarked TS007:2012 3 star accreditation. It is also approved by Secured by Design, an official UK Police initiative which supports the principles of 'designing out crime'.
The AS Platinum Series Cylinder has been developed with a number of additional security features:
1. Snap-Off front section of the cylinder will sacrificially come away if attacked, which will then give the intruder less of the cylinder to attack.2. Hardened Grip-Deflectors which make gripping the rest of the cylinder difficult.3. Hardened Reinforced Bar designed not to snap, but to flex in a way that will defeat the vast majority of intruders.4. Interlocking Cam with strengthening bar provides additional protection and strength to the cylinder.5. Anti-drill protection.6. Anti-bump protection.7. Anti-screw protection.
