Poundland makes changes to its senior team

Published: 23 November 2018 - Kiran Grewal

Poundland has announced it has appointed a new trading director and finance director to complete its senior team.

Tim Bettley will begin his new role at Poundland at the start of the new year. He joins from The Original Factory Shop where he has was commercial director since November 2015. Mr Bettley has previously had senior roles at Morrisons and Peacocks; demonstrating his experience with the retail sector.

At Poundland, Bettley will be responsible for trading, the marketing teams, and stock control. He will report in to UK and Ireland managing director, Barry Williams, who held the role of trading director before he was promoted last year.

Dave Williams joined the Poundland senior team earlier this year as finance director. During his career he has held similar roles across a variety of companies including The Original Factory Shop and JD Sports.

As Poundland looks to improve its estate and have a successful trading period over Christmas, Williams will play a key role in keeping the discounter on track and delivering better results in the coming year. As part of his role, Williams has responsibility for the property team, led by Ben Wall, recently promoted to business development director.

Talking about his new recruits and the future of Poundland, managing director Barry Williams, said: "These are two important hires to complete my top team. And it’s no coincidence that both have value retail and clothing experience. That’s because we’re building a new Poundland that’s extending our promise of amazing value every day into a broader range of products."

Poundland continues to roll-out Pep&Co clothing in more stores as it transforms itself into a general merchandise, FMCG and clothing business.
