Why is garden play the golden egg of the outdoor living sector?
In a category which has seen general sales decline over the past year according to GFK data, Garden Play products (ie toys, playhouses, games and activities) have shown growth of 12%. What do you think is behind this emerging trend?
These are impulse buys which are easy to merchandise
More people are staying at home over the summer so are spending more on fun items they can use in their own gardens
I think it's a result of government campaigns encouraging families to be more active
