Planters grows Garden King brand

Published: 13 October 2011
Planters Garden Centre has opened a second centre under its Garden King brand after acquiring Bradley Nurseries in Staffordshire.
Planters grows Garden King brand
Planters completed the purchase of the site from Bradgate Nurseries Ltd back in August, and have now started major renovation work, including building a larger car park and relocating the entrance.

Garden King had record sales in July, August and September, with an increase of 20%, and is also celebrating a record year with total sales up 8% year-on-year.

The company says its 'stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap' concept is "really working", and believes supplier clearance deals and customers hungry for a bargain have helped contribute to its success.

This latest acquisition takes the number of centres in Planters' portfolio to four, with two Planters centres at Freasley and Bretby, and now two Garden King centres at Newhall and Bradley.
