The unique dogs only pet store called Barkers, is a new brand from the Pets at Home group and it has opened in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
Claiming to be the first of its kind, Barkers comprises a food hall, accessory shop, a made-to-order bedding service, grooming facilities and a dog spa which offers treatments such as Reiki massage.

Dogs are free to roam the 1,200sq ft store where they can find interactive toys to play with, running fresh water to drink, sensory zones, calming room odourisers, paint colours that reflect the colour spectrum of their eyesight and free treats to eat.

Manager of the store Claire Phillips said: "The store has been designed exclusively for dogs. Everyone involved in the creation of Barkers are dog lovers, and this is reflected in everything; from the way the shop looks and feels to the products we sell and the services we provide.

"We want dogs to walk away from Barkers looking, smelling and feeling fantastic, having had a truly unique experience."

More than 85% of the products sold in the store are exclusive to Barkers and the available food is 100% natural, with staff trained to offer advice on what is best to feed what breed of dog.

Pets at Home commercial director, Peter Pritchard added: "Our objective was to create the best dog shop in the world and I think we've done it. We've had a really warm welcome from the dog owners of Wilmslow and while it's early days, we're excited by the potential of the brand."

The performance of this store will be judged before a decision is made on the future of more stores opening across the country.
