Toolbank man Peter Cairns, aged 60, died earlier this month of a heart attack.
Obituary: Peter Cairns
Mr Cairns worked at Toolbank for 25 years as sales manager, branch manager and regional director. He retired at the end of January this year due to ill health and had been undergoing treatment for cancer for some time. He died on March 13th.

A statement from Toolbank said: "He was a very loyal, professional and talented businessman who had developed an excellent team at Finnie of whom he was extremely proud.

"He was personally delighted that David Crawford and Craig Aitchison had been promoted to manage the continued development of Toolbank's Scottish business from the new premises at Hillington after his retirement.

"Everyone who came into contact with Peter on a personal or professional basis will know that he was a very fine man in every respect. All of his colleagues and friends within Finnie and Toolbank, our customers and suppliers will miss an excellent colleague and a real friend with a great sense of humour."

The funeral was held on Friday March 18 near Peter's family home in Denny.
He is survived by his wife Christine and daughters Shona and Lucy.

I had the pleasure of calling on Peter Cairns as a representative of a supplier to Toolbank. Peter was one of the nicest people I have ever met and he shared the same sense of humour as myself. He was an excellent businessman and ambassador to Toolbank. He was extremely professional and always followed the company core values on a daily basis. His team were like a family to him and the empathy he showed at times when those around him needed help earned him the respect that he deserved. I have now lost two very dear friends in Peter Cairns and Shirley Hunter from Toolbank and I was unable to pay my last respects to either by attending their respective funerals. I will never forget the many happy memories that I have from times spent in their company and I hope that their families can find peace and can take comfort from the fact that they were so deeply loved by all who knew them. It was indeed a pleasure to have known them both.
