NWF's six garden centres generate 38% sales rise

The NWF Group has reported turnover up 38% to £21.5 million in its preliminary results announced today.

Turnover rose six million (2006: £15.6 million) while operating profits were up 130% to £0.7 million (2006: £0.3 million) from its six destination sites.

Like-for-like, the four more established garden centres - Rivendell, Wheatcroft, Dukeries, and Victoria - enjoyed a 10% uplift on sales compared to 2006.

NWF said this would have been higher but for the disappointing weather in May.

After having a full trading year, Woodford Park added £6.1 million further turnover while the recently opened Ashton Park - completed as a green field new build in March 2007 - added a further £0.5 million in sales.

Average margins improved on a year-on-year basis with several new concessions introduced at various sites.

NWF foresees the group enjoying the benefits of 'six large units with new buying and operations management while improving its offer and margins'.
