Ban for pressure cooker that deforms in useConsumers are being warned about a dangerous, sub-standard pressure cooker whose lid is liable to hurtle off in use.
The 9 litre Perfect Home product is made of chrome-nickel stainless steel and has a base diameter of 183mm and top diameter of 196mm. It is packed in a cardboard box marked with the Perfect Home brand name and various pictograms denoting the product's suitability for different heat sources, and other information.
The pressure cooker poses a serious risk of injuries because it is not sufficiently resistant against pressure and can deform while in use, catapulting the lid.
The Turkish-made product does not comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive or the relevant European standard EN 12778. It has barcode 5999541209292 and item number 92118.
The authorities have banned the marketing of the product and issued a warning to consumers of the risks.
