Argos offers Facebook Deals
Argos has announced today that it is participating in Facebook Deals, giving customers special discounts and promotions when they 'check in' using Facebook Places.

Argos offers Facebook Deals

Facebook Places allows users to share where they are with friends on Facebook, discover new places and take advantage of special deals buy 'checking in'.

The promotion, which starts today, is a Facebook Charity Deal, with the retailer donating £1 to Teenage Cancer Trust for the first 10,000 customers to check in at an Argos store this week. Customers can claim the deal by checking in with the most recent version of the Facebook app or on a smartphone.

The retailer's 75th catalogue is also the first to incorporate Argos' official Facebook page. At www.facebook.com/argos, fans can access a 'showcase' of the chain's new ranges, share ideas and link to products on argos.co.uk. Over the Argos catalogue launch weekend, the company saw its Facebook fans almost double to 60,000; the retailer claims its growing Facebook community is the largest among general merchandise retailers in the UK.

Argos digital brand development manager Jim Clear said: "Argos is committed to social media and our adoption of Facebook Deals is a way to engage customers and receive timely insight and feedback. The size and reach of Argos made us a natural launch participator for Facebook Deals in the UK. We are excited to use this important new UK social media platform to enhance our partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust in a way that speaks to our Facebook fans and Teenage Cancer Trust supporters."
