Garden Centre Group sees strong trading with 725% profit jump

The Garden Centre group reported an 8.2% sales increase to £189m for the year ended December 27, 2009, compared with a 6.4% drop to £175m in 2008.

The figures for The Garden Centre Group Trading Ltd, which excludes any non-retail activities, also revealed an impressive 724.8% jump in pre-tax profit in 2009, taking the total to £13m, compared with a loss of £2m the previous year.

The group's operating profit was also up 606% to £9m, however, it is unknown if the company agreed to pay a dividend to its shareholders.
