Selfridges launches Christmas in August
Christmas has come early to Selfridges this year, with Christmas trading due to start on August 2.

Selfridges launches Christmas in August

Selfridges on Oxford Street, one of Britain's most prestigious stores, has decided to launch its Christmas collection 145 days before December 25. This is the earliest-ever start for the store.

In 2009 Selfridges Christmas launched on August 8 and the decision has been taken to start even earlier this year. Last year the store sold more than 1,000 baubles during its first week of Christmas trading.

Speaking to the BBC Selfridges Christmas shop buying manager Geraldine James said: "I can see a time when we offer a capsule Christmas collection throughout the year."
