UPDATE: More Mica members join Home Hardware
Southwest branch experiences similar trend to Home Hardware Scotland, as 20 ex-Mica members flock to the dealer-owned wholesaler.
Home Hardware Southwest managing director Martin Elliott has confirmed that around 20 Mica members have signed up to join the Devon-based wholesaler since Mica went into administration at the beginning of July.
He told DIY Week: "It's been going on since the administration. Stores have been constantly joining - in fact we had another couple last week."
A number of the new members are still contracted with Mica until the new year, after which they will begin taking the Home Hardware promotional leaflets and brochures.
With the loss of Mica's wholesaler arm, the Vault, Mr Elliott believes it is Home Hardware's "product range, stock availability and marketing" that is attracting ex-Mica members to join the wholesale group.

We at Merlin Mica Hardware are continuing as Mica members to promote ourselves and our suppliers products through the monthly Mica leaflet We are still distributing 33,000 leaflets in our local area. We are also continuing to support our Mica suppliers to the best of our ability on a day to day basis by ordering and selling their product as we have done for the last thirteen years. By doing this we hope we will soon return our suppliers to the position that they enjoyed for so long by working with Mica. Many brands were virtually unknown to our customers until the regular Mica leaflet made them aware of them. We personally are delighted to be continuing to work with Dulux Paints, Draper, Specialist(Duwit), Stax, HG, Mr Fothergills Seeds, Murpak, Stow Green, RKW and Rodo to name a few and we look forward to working with others as they join with us to move forward as a Marketing and Promotions group which is where we excel. I am continuing to serve on the Promotions committee selecting product for promotion with other members, all of whom are keen to promote their businesses locally. We believe Mica has a lot to offer members, our suppliers and most importantly our customers who will continue to receive the best service we can give and the best quality products we and our suppliers can sell them all at competitive prices. We look forward to working with other loyal Mica members committed to our ideals of good solid promotion and marketing of our business backed up by excellent customer service to strenthen and improve our group and our business going forward.
