Customers reveal their ideal bathrooms
Survey reveals customers' dream bathroom features, including underfloor heating, walk-in shower and even a bar with topless waitresses.

Customers reveal their ideal bathrooms

The survey of 2,000 people, conducted by UK bathroom distributor Ideal Bathroom, revealed that 30% of respondents dreamed of a spa/whirlpool bath, while 23% wanted a large or walk-in shower.

10% of people said they dreamed of a separate shower and bath, while 7% would like a heated towel rail or underfloor heating and 5% would love to have a bidet.

Ideal Bathroom said of the results: "The research shows that, left to imagine their own personal dream bathroom, consumers are imagining simply the products that are available within the market already."

More imaginative requests included soundproofing, a sunken bath with a chocolate fountain, a spray tanning machine, fish, a barbecue, a TV with floating remote control and a bar with topless waitresses.

Ideal Bathrooms concluded: "When asked to dream about their bathroom, do consumers have enough knowledge to do so and are their dreams really a reflection of what they already know? This looks to be the case and so the responsibility, maybe inevitably falls to the merchant retailer who has a major role to play in identifying workable options and in knowing just what can be achieved towards meeting the consumers 'wildest dreams'."

Wow!
By Richard Hazell
As the producer of diamond drills for tiles we were once asked if the larger holes we drill are for spying into bathrooms. If topless waitresses are to become a popular bathroom feature maybe we need to give more consideration to supplying drills to voyeurs!

And in case you are wondering the drills we supply for larger holes are not for use as spyholes but rather the more mundane use for service pipes like hot and cold feed, shower inlets and waste pipes.

Boring (if you pardon the pun) but essential....
