B&Q steps up pressure on rival retailers
DIY chain offers 15% off everything this weekend on top of any other deals running in store.
B&Q reported an increase of 28.4% in garden furniture sales in Q1
B&Q is providing more competition for retailers this weekend by knocking 15% off the price of everything in its stores when customers spend more than £50.
The promotion is on top of any other deals currently running in stores and starts today, running for four days until Monday June 15.
Deals will include a six-piece furniture set that has already been reduced from £299.98 to £148.49 and will retail this weekend at £126.22, as well as the Dulux Paint Pod plus Paint Pod Emulsion at £57.76.
B&Q marketing director Warren Scarr said: "I can't remember a better time to be a home improvement or gardening customer. The market is extremely competitive and our deal this weekend is a real market beater."
Last week parent company Kingfisher released its Q1 trading statement, revealing that B&Q's retail profits had doubled and like-for-like sales were up 3.2%.
B&Q also reported a 148% surge in sales of charcoal barbecues in the first quarter, with sales of garden furniture sets also up 28.4%.
