BLP UK goes into administration

The firm has appointed Lyn Vardy and David Ian Green of PricewaterhouseCoopers as joint administrators.

BLP, who lost a key contract with B&Q last year, is the latest victim of the problems affecting the housing market.

BLP dates back to 1910 when it was founded in the east end of London, three generations on, with a lot of investment and a re-location to a purpose built factory.

The new factory a 16 acre (6.5 hectare) in south Yorkshire has allowed the firm to become one of the UK's leading volume manufacturers of MDF wrapped decorative furniture mouldings and veneer wrapped architectural mouldings.

The firm operates from a 25,000 square metre manufacturing facility and employees about 100 people.
