The 14-year-old firm in Shipton-on-Stour, Warwickshire, unveiled its new look last weekend with mayor Alan Noyce and wife mayoress Angela officially opening the shop.

The transformation showed how far the company has come since John Lyne's son Andrew, working with his dad, transformed a flat and former charity shop into a traditional hardware store.

The revamp has seen a new sign installed, staff given new uniforms and a rebrand point-of-sales materials.

John Lyne Home Hardware's 18,000 sq ft currently sells more than 10,000 lines has also diversified into other ranges, with seagrass storage units and willow hamper sets to attract younger customers.

Andrew Lyne took full ownership of the business in 2002 and the relaunch, which has seen the store open for the first time on Sunday between 9am and 1pm, is aimed at improving the shopping experience of current customers as well as attracting new ones.

Andrew Lyne said: "We've had to move with the times opening on Sundays and venturing into more unusual softer lines."
