Wyevale garden centre completely destroyed in fire
Six fire crews fail to save Bedfordshire site Wyevale's garden centre in Caddington, Bedfordshire was completely destroyed after a fire broke out on Sunday morning (July 20).
No-one was injured in the blaze, which hit about 9.30am when staff were preparing for work.
The Bedfordshire fire service was called after staff realised that smoke they thought was from a bonfire nearby was coming from inside the centre.
"No-one is sure what caused it at this stage," a spokesperson told DIYWeek.net, "but given that it was early morning it could have been an electrical fault."
Six fire engines including a water carrier and crew with an aerial platform failed to save the site.
The fire brigade is currently investigating the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Staff have been transferred to centres in proximity to Caddington.
