Eddie Riby md for Parcelsafe has been honoured for his hard work and innovation at the Enterprising Young Brits 2007 awards.

Mr Riby was Highly Commended for his company's product, Parcelsafe, an environmentally-friendly secure lockable safe that fits on the exterior of homes.
Parcel Safe lets a postman deliver packages that are too big for a letterbox, and can only be opened by a keyholder.

He was the only finalist out of 25 to be Highly Commended.

"I am extremely proud that my product has been officially awarded as highly commended," said Mr Riby after receiving his commendation in the Creative category.

"It has been extremely nerve-racking, but in the end worthwhile for me and for the business."

The final day of the Enterprising Young Brits competition saw each finalist give a five-minute Dragon's Den style presentation to a panel of judges, which included Harry Rich (chief executive of organisers Make Your Mark), Alex Brummer (City editor, Daily Mail), Birmingham City Football Club md, Karen Brady, and Make Your Mark ambassador and star of Channel 4's Millionaires Mission, Dominic McVey.

Mr Riby received his commendation at an awards ceremony on Tuesday November 12, which was attended by Prime Minister, Gordon Brown and MP John Hutton.

Mr Riby said he will now use the commendation to grow his business.

"Now I can go out and promote the fact that I am a highly commended Briton," he added.

The winner in the Creative category was Jessica Huie from Colorblind Cards, a greeting card launched in May 2006 after Jessica and her brother saw a gap in this market for cards featuring a young boy of Afro Caribbean descent.

Make Your Mark is backed by a coalition of business, charities, education bodies and government. It is funded by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
