Karting challenge raises £5,000 for Rainy Day Trust
A new three level racing track, new karts and new teams combined to raise a record £5,000 for the Rainy Day Trust at the 14th Annual Hardware Trades Karting challenge.

Held in Warrington on Sunday May 20, 2007, the event saw 20 teams battle it out for top honours.

The teams represented retailers, suppliers, wholesalers and others working in the diy, garden and housewares industries.

Hard fought battles on the track saw individual winners from ICI (Caroline Bart of Dulux walked away with a spoof 'Bent Axle' award for collecting the most black flags); Sigma Kalon (Corrine Tucker was awarded the Fastest Lady Trophy); and Workhouse Marketing, where Jamie Brown won the Fastest Lap trophy and the individual drivers' competition – for the third year running.

Team winners, in order of finishing, were Hiatt Hardware, Toolbank, and Danlett.

Organiser David Hibbert said: "I would like to thank all the companies who entered teams and especially Bostik who generously sponsored the day."

Bookings for next year's event are already taking place. For more details contact David Hibbert at david.hibbert@staxplc.co.uk
