Ken Dodd opens new Stax depot

Published: 18 September 2009
Comedy legend entertains and officially opens new Manchester depot - 28 years after opening the old Manchester branch.
More than 1,000 customers turned out at Stax Trade Centres' new head office branch to witness the official opening by Ken Dodd. The depot represents an £11m investment for Stax and its opening marks the start of a month of planned branch activities, including giveaways, supplier demonstrations and prizes.

Mr Dodd, who opened the original Stax in Manchester, spent around three hours in the branch meeting customers and posing for photographs before performing a stand-up routine and presentation in the central display area.

He also presented a cheque to the City of Salford Soccer League on behalf of Stax, as the company announced the sponsorship of the league for two seasons.
