Jewson launches electric vehicle charging products, as tradespeople report rise in eco demand

Published: 25 May 2023 - James Mead

National builders’ merchant Jewson has launched a new product range of electric vehicle charging points online and in-store, as tradespeople report a rise in the number of homeowners requesting eco-friendly home improvements.

The new evec electric vehicle charging points and pedestal chargers are part of Jewson’s Making Better Homes range of sustainable building solutions, which also includes renewable technologies, retrofitting ranges and supplies for new build homes.

The new product range from leading brand evec is marketed as “the UK’s most affordable smart EV charger” and aims to make the devices as accessible as possible, while being compatible with all EVs and PHEVs – from entry-level to luxury models.

The evec charging points also offer app capability, additional safety features and a market-leading 48-hour engineer-backed warranty.

According to Jewson’s recent Trade Trends report, over a third of tradespeople (35%) said they had recently been asked by a homeowner about energy efficient home improvements.

Matthew Handley, Category Innovation Manager at Jewson, said: “We chose the evec range when launching this new offering as it provides a consistent stock supply and a very attractive price point for our customers. The products themselves offer everything you would look for from an EV charger, with convenient installation for our customers and an attractive design for the end user.

“As our recent research shows, homeowners are increasingly looking for more ways to reduce their environmental impact, and we are committed to supporting tradespeople by offering solutions that help them to do this at an affordable price. We also offer training for tradespeople who are keen to learn more about how to install and maintain new and existing product ranges.”

Prices start from £444.95 for the evec 7.4kW EV Charger, while pedestal chargers start at £1,560.
