Householders are seemingly turning to creative ways of increasing storage space in their homes, with Homebase reporting a 200% year-on-year surge in sales of plastic sheds.
Said Homebase outdoor structure buyer Heidi Towse: "The average three-bedroom family home is much smaller than it was 50 years ago. We also have a lot more outside furniture and accessories that need a home during the winter months - we no longer just have a bench in the garden, but instead an array of furniture including parasols, bistro sets and sun loungers to store away.

"Plastic sheds seem to be the key to creating much-needed extra storage in the home. They're not only durable and easy to maintain and assemble, but also come in a range of sizes no matter how big or small your outside space is."

Homebase offers over 150 types of shed.
