The German homewares chain Butlers is having another crack at entering the UK market.
German homewares chain Butlers tries UK again
The retailer all but pulled out of the UK last year, but believes that conditions in the high street now will make it easier for it to gain a foothold.

Butlers is reported to be looking to open around seven stores in the London area. It already has one in Islington, London - the only one of its six UK shops opened four years ago to have continued to trade.

Butlers' original aims for the UK were hugely ambitious, with the company planning to invest £12m on launching 80 stores in just five years. A trial store in Kingston on Thames proved successful, but the planned rollout fell foul of high retail costs.

Butlers, which sells a wide range of housewares, tabletop and kitchenware, was set up in 1999 by a former European head of Ikea. The company now has over 80 outlets in Germany and elsewhere.
