Garden centre break-in

Published: 26 February 2010
Trusthorpe Garden Centre was broken into on Monday night despite recently installing a new security system worth £1,500.

The main door at the premises on Sutton Road was forced open and the security equipment was stolen along with cash and a laptop computer.

Owner Darren Snell has had to deal with regular break-ins during the 14 years he has been running the business. He said: "I've just had enough now, this was the last straw. We'll buy a new hard drive DVD player for the security system but it's really there to catch shoplifters as you just can't identify people at night. It makes you wonder why you bother."

The burglars also wrecked £1,000 worth of filing cabinets, prising them open after they got into the centre by climbing over the back fence.

Mr Snell is now looking to sell the business.

Police are appealing for sightings of any suspicious activity or vehicles at the premises overnight.

Contact Mablethorpe Police Station on 0300 111 0300 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
