Fletcher O’Brien creditors meeting rescheduled

Published: 26 August 2010
Future of company still unclear but liquidator could be appointed at meeting today.
Fletcher O'Brien's future still hangs in the balance after DIY Week has learnt that a creditors meeting organised for August 18 was rescheduled for yesterday (August 25) and then moved again to take place sometime today.

It is unclear why administrator Begbies Traynor has moved the dates so many times. However, a spokesperson for the company told DIY Week earlier this month that a liquidator is expected to be appointed when the meeting does take place.

While no further details are known at this stage, there have already been several redundancies at the Lancashire-based company.

Fletcher O'Brien, creator of Tabs for Tools, provides tool retailers and distributors with electronic trading systems and transactional websites. DIY Week understands that the company currently services around 30 customers - although it is not known whether these businesses are aware of proceedings.

According to Creditsafe, two earlier creditors meetings were held this month - on August 3 and 4. One of Fletcher O'Brien's largest creditors is Lancashire County Developments, whose Rosebud Fund helped support the company when it was first set up. It also has an outstanding loan with the Co-op Bank.

The case is being handled by Begbies Traynor's Southend branch, while the creditors meeting will be organised by the Manchester office. Fletcher O'Brien changed its registered address to that of Begbies' office in Southend-on-Sea on August 9.
