Published: 30 April 2014
A hardware independent in Eastbourne has had to shut down temporarily after a fire broke out on the premises last week.
Fire forces temporary closure of hardware shop
Firefighters were called out to Trend DIY in Green Street on Friday evening when an electrical fire in the office sent smoke pouring through the shop.

The road was closed for a while as the emergency services checked the safety of the building. No one was hurt in the incident.

However, Trend DIY, which is Eastbourne's oldest hardware store, has been forced to shut up shop for the time being. A message posted on its website following the fire says:

"We would like to thank those of you who have given us such wonderful words of comfort and support.

"We will be back open as soon as possible. We will keep you updated with the latest news."

Trend DIY's phones have been put out of action.
