Electric-shock adaptor and inverter withdrawn

Published: 30 October 2012
A travel plug adaptor and a power inverter have both been withdrawn from the market because they can give users an electric shock.
Electric-shock adaptor and inverter withdrawn
The Ultra Max adaptor, model number ADPUMXWOR11 and batch number/barcode 5036446807908, has live parts that are accessible through the apertures, and a socket for inserting an earthing pin but no provision for an earth connection. Nor does the product incorporate a fuse link.

The adaptor, sold in transparent packaging, has been voluntarily withdrawn from the market.

The Bison brand DC 12V to AC 230V power inverter, model number WETE 150W, can also deliver a shock because when a plug is inserted into the socket the live pin of the plug can be touched by the user.

The Chinese-made product has been compulsorily withdrawn and recalled from end users.
