Compulsory ban for asbestos vacuum flask

Published: 5 September 2012
A vacuum flask has been compulsorily withdrawn from the market because it contains asbestos.
The authorities say the presence of asbestos fibres in the separators of the double glass wall of the Em Home brand flask puts users at risk.

The Chinese-made product comes in a range of sizes and colours, and the labelling bears the brand name, capacity and barcodes. The withdrawal affects models 9400712 (800ml), 8402445 (0.5l), 84006619 (1.9l), 8407033 (0.75l) and 8404470 (0.5l). Batch number/barcodes are: 8435340607121, 8435269924453, 8435269966194, 8435269970337 and 8435269944703.

The products do not comply with the REACH regulation.
